A few interesting tidbits from over in Europe:
Sparkle will be helping out with the GEANT infrastructure in Spain. They have done a deal with Enimbos to jointly supply cloud solutions and professional services to the European research network. Sparkle will be leveraging the cloud services of its parent TIM Group as well as Amazon’s AWS cloud.
Ufinet has sold a pile of fibre capacity to the Spanish operator Masmovile. The agreement spans 10 years with possible extension for 5 more after that and will provide Masmovil with infrastructure in more than 300 exchanges, cutting the future capex needs of their planned buildout by some 50%.
VIRTUS Data Centers has officially launched its new campus in Stockley Park. The data center operators LONDON5 and LONDON6 are now open and delivering up to 40MW of IT capacity. LONDON7 is still under construction, and is expected to add some 25MW to that and bring its total square footage in the UK capital to some 70,000 square meters.
And BICS has launched a new Local SMS Firewall product. The new product derives from the company’s work with 5D Technologies, and enables operators to identify, filter, and block sppofed and faked SMS messages. Now if only they could do that for my email also…
