Friday Bytes: Lumos, ip.access, netsapiens, CoreSite

Here are a few more news items worth a quick look from this week:

Lumos Networks picked up some education business down in Virginia this week. The Virginia Military Institute will be tapping Lumos Networks’ regional network in a multi-year deal for both a 1.5Gbps connection to its campus and also a 1Gbps connection at the Rockbridge Area Network Authority data center. VMI’s campus is in Lexington, Virginia in the western mountains along I-81.

Over in northern Europe, ip.access and Qortus are helping power Pentonet’s new SailorTalk solution. Small cell technology from ip.access and network solutions from Qortus are powering the maritime connectivity subscription solution, which allows open sea cellular connectivity and modern IoT data transfer. The Greek shipping company Danaos is the first convert.

Meanwhile, netsapiens announced this week the full integration of its UC contact/call center capabilities into Impact Telecom’s offerings. Impact Telecom will be launching a special promotion through its channel partners to tak ethe new capabilities to market. The target will be the SMB that needs capabilities a call center can provide but need something affordable that scales to their size.

And CoreSite has a new tenant out in Los Angeles.  LANAIR Group is deploying its network operations in CoreSite’s LA campus.  LANAIR designs, implements, and manages custom IT and UC systems and boasts some 350 service providers in its customer base.
