Wednesday Bytes: Equinix, DE-CIX, CyrusOne, Ekinops

Three bits of news from the data center space, and one fiber buildout project:

Equinix has deepened its relationship with  two cloud providers this week now.  On Monday we learned through a blog post that IBM’s Softlayer has joined the Equinix Cloud Exchange.  And this morning, they announced a collaboration with Rackspace to simplify hybrid cloud solutions for enterprises via private connections as well as the cloud exchange.

DE-CIX has some new nodes connected to its New York metro area internet exchange.  NYI now has the IX available at both its 100 William Street location in the city and its 999 Frontier location out in Bridgewater NJ.  DE-CIX has seen traction in the Big Apple to the tune of some 90 networks on-net now across more than 100 access points.

CyrusOne says it has completed another 30,000 square feet and 6MW of power at its Sterling data center.  That brings the total of their foothold in northern Virginia to 75,000 square feet and 12MW of power, out of a potential 400,000 and 48.  They started developing the property in the first half of 2014.

And Ekinops is helping out with a new fiber network buildout in the Eure-et-Loir region of France, which lies southwest of Paris.  The utility REG.I.E.S. is putting in significant fiber infrastructure there, and using the Ekinops single-fiber solution to light it with 100G.  REG.I.E.S. has been using their 10G platform since 2006.
