Ramblings Jobs: Mapcom Systems and First Communications

Four new job openings were posted to the  Telecom Ramblings Jobs Board this week, making this the best December so far at least in one small way.  I have plans to change the jobs board over from the current limited, hosted system to something a bit more extensive, but that will be for next year.  This weeks job postings consisted of two by First Communications, and another two by Mapcom Systems.

First Communications, which operates longhaul and metro fiber throughout the MidAtlantic and Midwest, is looking for Fiber Sales Directors in both Washington DC and New York City.  The positions would of course be responsible for prospecting and selling lit fiber transport and dark fiber to Wholesale, Carrier and Financial customers within the company’s network footprint.  First’s owner, Gores Group, recently finished buying Texas fiber operator Alpheus and may have additional purchases in mind.

Mapcom Systems on the other hand is looking for software developers, with positions for both a Junior Developer and a Senior Developer.  Mapcom’s geographical software helps manage inside, outside, and wireless plant for telecommunications companies.

Still on the jobs board as well are those two positions at Sidera Networks for a Director of Human Resources and an OSP Project Manager, and Sirius Telecom’s need for a Switch Technician.  With all the M&A-related layoffs hitting the sector this season, we can use all the job listings we can get.
