Three domestic and one from overseas:
FiberLight is investing in some more infrastructure in Texas. This week they announced a new fiber route along the I-45 corridor south o f Dallas. It will connect up South Dallas, Corsicana, and Red Oak, the last of which is of course a growing data center corridor. That complements other recent investments out in West Texas, adding depth and diversity to FiberLight’s infrastructure.
Taara, formerly of Google’s Moonshot Factory, has also been busy in Texas. Rountree has deployed Taara Lightbridge to connect up the Parsons Sports Ranch in Bosque County with 10Gbps. The alternative was a 12-month project costing $300-500k to build seven miles of fiber to the site, which is in a rural area northwest of Waco. Instead all they’re using is beams of light, using unlicensed optical spectrum.
Spectrum Business has added another security option to its portfolio. They have launched a new Managed Cisco Secure Networking product based on Cisco’s new 8000 Series routers and Talos Threat Intelligence technology. Spectrum will be looking to to take the AI-enabled next-generation managed offering to enterprises across its footprint.
And Oman is moving into another global market, specifically in the Middle Eastern sultanate of Oman. They have partnered with Ooredoo to launch Gulf Gateway IX, which will be a unified nationwide interconnection architecture stretching from the capital of Muscat in the north all the way to the southern port of Salalah. If all goes well, it should be online in early 2027.
