A range of network rollout, upgrade, and trial activity from around the industry and the world to catch up with:
Orange Business has picked up some government business in the European Union. They will be providing the network backbone for TESTA-EIRIS, which needs to support private communications for public administrations across EU Member States. Orange will be working with the EC’s Directorate-General for Digital Services as the ecosystem for it is being set up.
Nokia’s technology will be getting some excercise in the Middle East. Zain KSA will be leveraging Nokia’s Deepfield Cloud Intelligence across more than 100 cities in Saudi Arabia. They are looking to improve application-level visibility and optimize latency-sensitive services. Zain KSA is upgrading its capabilities to align with Saudi Vision 2030.
Boldyn Networks has been busy in the education vertical. They have announced 20 new and expanded deals with colleges and universities across the US. They will be providing campus connectivity, IT services, network monitoring, and professional services to a long list of private and public higher-ed institutions. Boldyn says it has some 300 such partnerships now.
Ciena has run another high speed demonstration, this time with Space World Group’s Constl subsidiary. They two have completed a 1.6Tbps transmission across a longhaul network span in India using Ciena’s WL6e. The test follows a 1Tbps transmission last year and was completed between Mumbai and Pune on a live production network.
And Ciena also picked up a subsea upgrade deal under the Atlantic. Angola Cables will be leveraging a suite of Ciena’s gear and software on both MONET and SACS. The former connects the US to Brazil, and the laterr connects Brazil with Angola in southern Africa. The deal builds upon an existing relationship, as Angola Cables has already been using earlier Ciena technology on its subsea network.
