Two data center projects and two fiber updates:
atNorth has added a giant new data center project on the western coast of Norway. The Nordic data center operator has acquired 36 hectares in Haugaland upon which they will build a facility with 120MW initial capacity and expansion room to 350MW. It will be the company’s first facility in Norway, and hence called NOR01. atNorth also recently announced a fourth facility for Sweden and operates locations in Finland and Iceland.
Mission Critical Group has opened a third manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. The facility, located in Harleysville about an hour northwest of Philadelphia, will add some 300 jobs and 266,000 square feet of manufacturing space as it ramps up operations over the summer. MCG is looking to expand switchgear production capacity and support metal fabrication activities as it looks to meet accelerating demand from AI.
Kinetic said yesterday that it has passed the 2 million homes-passed mark. The subsidiary of Uniti has been busy building out fiber access across its 18-state footprint, and passed the milestone with work in Lexington, Kentucky. More than half the company’s customer base — and revenue — is now connected by fiber as the company continues to drive the transition.
And Sertex’s middle mile buildout up in Maine got some new physical assets for its upcoming MOOSE Net buildout and supplied the pics. They have received the first 3 of 9 prefab colo huts that will go along the 450 route miles of new fiber. They also have the first 5 reels of OSP fiber ready. Construction will begin at the end of this month.
