Some interesting infrastructure activity in the the US southwest and Latin America to catch up with:
DE-CIX is investing resources into connectivity between the USA and Mexico. With DE-CIX Mexico now reaching 200Gbps of peak traffic across 5 data centers in Mexico City and Querétaro, they need bigger pipes up to DE-CIX Dallas. DE-CIX entered the Mexican IX market in late 2023.
RadiusDC has made an inorganic move in the southwestern US. They have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the data center and colocation business of phoenixNAP. RadiusDC plans to expand the facility into its new Phoenix I campus, increasing capacity of the existing facility to 8MW and adding a new 18MW facility in 2028. phoenixNAP will continue to operate its Bare Metal Cloud and network service platforms as a tenant of the new campus.
And V.tal is looking to build out a new digital ecosystem in Barranquilla, Colombia. The idea is to bundle their cable landing station, three Tecto data centers, IXP, and international connectivity to facilitate neutral interconnection and data exchange. Barranquilla sits on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, to the northeast of Cartagena. V.tal also has plans to do something like this in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
