Two international moves affecting APAC infrastructure, and two regional infrastructure projects in the US:
NTT Data, Sumitomo, and JA Mitsui have established a new subsea cable company, Intra-Asia Marine Networks Co., Ltd., or I-AM NW. The new entity will build and operate the Intra-Asia Marine Cable. As envisioned, I-AM Cable will connect multiple sites with Japan with Malaysia and Singapore, with endpoints also in Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines. The project will leverage SDM and WSS technology on 16 fiber pairs with a total theoretical capacity of 320Tbps.
Duos Edge AI continued its expansion in Texas with another modular edge data center deployment. They have partnered with the Hereford Independent School District up in the Texas panhandle. The rural deployment will enable the school district to leverage modern AI-enabled applications, but will also be available to businesses and enterprises in the surrounding community.
Sertex Broadband Solutions has picked up some FTTH expansion work up in New England. They have been awarded a $1.58M contract to expand Deefrield Valley Communications Union District, known as DVFiber. The project will add 60 miles of new fiber in the towns of West Brattleboro, Dummerston, Marlboro, Newfane, and Guilford. Sertex built the initial GPON infrastructure, connecting 5K or so homes, and expects to have the expansion build done in August of this year.
Nozomi Networks is expanding with a new regional HQ in Singapore. They will be collaborating with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore to help with the nation’s data infrastructure. The deal follows Nozomi’s recently announced acquisition by Mitsubishi Electric, and represents a significant investment in its regional ecosystem.
