An IX expansion, some FTTx, and a bit of destruction:
DE-CIX is stretching its ecosystem deeper into New England. MASS-IX, the largest IX in the region, has interconnected its platform with DE-CIX New York. That enables ‘one-hop’ interconnect access for MASS-IX customers in 12 data centers in and around Boston to peer with networks in the Big Apple. TOWARDEX was mentioned as the first network to take advantage.
PPC Fiber has been busy hooking up more FTTH markets in key Greek regions. They have added commercial availability in 15 areas across Attica (where Athens is) and Thessaloniki. PPC Fiber now passes 2.05M homes, 1.3M of which are ready for service. They are targeting 3.8M homes passed by 2028.
And the infrastructure we all talk about is increasingly coming under fire in the Iran war. The IRGC has claimed to have hit and ‘destroyed’ Amazon’s data center infrastructure in Bahrain with multiple cruise missiles. Outside confirmation of the claim is another matter, but it seems clear there was at least an attack. The news comes as strikes by both sides have increased over the last week or two with the collapse of the cease fire.
