An expansion, an upgrade, a venue, and a new speed trial:

Boldyn Networks will be boosting connectivity at another venue out in the Midwestern state of Ohio. The Greater Columbus Convention Center has tapped the wireless network provider for a next generation Wi-Fi 6e network. The upgrade aims to improve the experience for attendees via the potential for premium services and on-site technicians.

AT&T has successfully tested a 1.6Tbps single carrier wavelength on its commercial US network carrying 2x 800GE circuits. The test leveraged Ciena’s WaveLogix 6 Extreme transponder, open-source white box switches, and DriveNets Network Cloud software. The route taken was 296km of fiber between Newark NJ and Philadelphia PA along the I-95 corridor, one of the most heavily traveled paths in the world.

Brightspeed is bringing its FTTx offerings to eastern North Carolina. Their efforts now pass 112K locations in the cities of Greenville, New Bern, and Washington. Further expansion will add another 131K locations, reaching some 315 homes and businesses in the end.

And Vodafone Idea has tapped Nokia for a significant IP backhaul upgrade project. The Indian mobile operator will be using Nokia’s 7750SR and 7250IXR gear to modernize the company’s transport network in support of their 4G and 5G experience. Vodafone Idea is owned by Vodafone and Aditya Birla Group.
