Five interesting projects to catch up with:

Consolidated Communications has picked up some more government funding to bring fiber to underserved areas. New Hampshire’s Broadband Matching Grants Initiative has awarded the company a $11.8M grant to build out into 12 communities to reach some 1,500 homes and businesses. Barnstead, Barrington, Belmont, Epsom, Farmington, Francestown, Gilmanton, Gilmanton Iron Works, Lancaster, Pittsfield and Strafford are on the menu. Consolidated will put in $7.7M of its own into the project.

Comcast Business picked up some business in the nonprofit community in the Pacific Northwest. They will be providing data and voice services to Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, which operates a 52-bed confidential emergency shelter for those in imminent danger from intimate partner violence.  Snohomish County covers the region north of Seattle itself from Puget Sound into the Cascades.

Zayo has lined up a new partner to help build out its new UC+ offering. They have tapped RingCentral to meld a UCaaS solution with Zayo’s deep fiber network infrastructure. RingCentral has been incorporating AI-powered capabilities into its UC technology, looking to improve workflows across voice, SMS, and cloud.

Fiber Fast Homes is working with another developer to bring in FTTH. Roost Design & Build will be leveraging FFH’s network infrastructure to connect 1,800 homes in their planned Belle Vie community outside of Dallas. Belle Vie will sit on Bois D’ Arc Lake, about an hour northeast of the outer edge of the Dallas metro area and the project will span the next 10 years or so.

And Michigan-based 123Net has entered into an agreement with Grand Haven Township in Ottawa County. They will be building 5.5 miles of fiber network in rural areas of the township, following up on an existing project with Ottawa County to connect 4,000 homes. The new fiber, which will be built in sections over the next few years, will be positioned for future development projects in the township.  Grand Haven is on the shore of Lake Michigan to the west of Grand Rapids, and the township is the region to the south of the town itself.
