Some automation, some optical, some energy, and some funding:
Lumen Technologies has tapped Ciena for intelligent automation software from Blue Planet to help automate its global network infrastructure. They will be using Blue Planet Inventory to help drive a strategic network inventory transformation program. The upgrade will replace a web of multiple legacy inventory systems and accelerate Lumen’s NaaS and Private Connectivity Fabric solutions.
Nokia’s optical gear will be getting a workout in the Austria Alps. illwerke vkw AG, a power utility in the state of Vorarlberg on the border with Liechtenstein and Switzerland, will be using it to deploy an optical transport solution in support of its business customers and wireless network operators. illwerke vkw AG operates 15 network nodes in Vorarlberg, and generates its power from renewable sources.
AVAIO Digital Partners has made a deal for power up in Quebec, Canada. ADP will be working with Sunbird Energy for renewable energy to support their data center development project in Gatineau. Gatineau is across the river from Ottawa, Canada, and the project will target cloud and AI-related demand throughout the region. ADP is still waiting for a contract for the necessary connection to the grid from Hydro Quebec, though.
And Scala Data Centers is in the news for the 2nd time this week. They have issued $250M more in green debentures, which will go toward the company’s SGRUTB09 data center project at the Tamboré Campus n São Paulo, Brazil. The site is set to become the largest data center building in Latin America at 36MW of IT capacity, and will be dedicated to a single cloud/content hyperscale client.
