Midweek Roundup: DE-CIX, Scala, Lumen, Versa, Archtop

Expansions in interconnection, power, SASE, and FTTH from global to local at midweek:

Southeast Asia gained a significant new interconnection platform yesterday. DE-CIX Jakarta has officially launched with 10+ customers. The new IX is a JV between PT IDMarko Digital Solusi and DE-CIX, and uses DE-CIX’s Apollon platform distributed across NTT’s JKT2 and Matrix Data Center’s JKT2 facilities. It also directly connects to the relatively nearby DE-CIX Singapore.

Scala Data Centers has broken ground on some major new power infrastructure down in Brazil. The data center operator is building a 560MW power substation at its flagship Tamboré Campus in São Paulo. The SSUBTB03 substation will be built in two stages, the first of which will be online in December of this year. Scala delivered two data centers of 24MW and 6MW capacity on the campus last month, and is working on three more single tenant facilities.

Lumen and Versa Networks are expanding their SASE partnership. They are now integrating AI-powered in-line security for Zero Trust at the network edge. The result is called Soveriegn SASE and is deployed in Lumen’s global PoPs or on customer premises to provide real-time ghreat detection and remediation.

And on the FTTx front, Archtop Fiber says it is accelerating one of its buildouts in upstate New York, and specifically in the contested Hudson Valley region. They say their construction is ‘revving up’ in the village of Rhinebeck, following its rollouts in Kingston and Saugerties. They are leveraging both aerial work on utility poles and microtrenching to light up neighborhoods.
