Metro Bytes: Comcast Business, Gateway, Breezeline, Boldyn, Greenlight

Lots of work on the last mile going on this week:

Comcast Business is taking on a piece of the Jersey Shore. Seaport Stays, which operates a group of hotels and other rental properties in Wildwood NJ, south of Atlantic City, will be tapping Comcast’s internet, WiFi, voice, and video services to support both guests’ bandwidth and internal operations. It may not feel like it yet, but beach season opens in not so many weeks.

Gateway Fiber has unveiled an expansion into the town of Northampton MA. That’s a long way from the company’s usual haunts in Missouri and Minnesota. Gateway will be adding an office and a warehouse in the area as well, which suggests they might be looking at other towns in western Massachussets. Construction is expected to begin this summer and continue into next year.

Breezeline has announced a FTTx buildout in Virginia’s King William county, a mostly rural swath of land northeast of Richmond between the Mattaponi and Pamunkey rivers. Backed by RDOF funding, they plan to add some 132 miles of fiber to connect 1,500 homes and businesses by next summer. Breezeline is already doing something similar in Caroline County and Essex County.

Boldyn Networks will be bringing 5G inside the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, the home of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings. Boldyn will upgrade, operate, and monitor the venue’s DAS infrastructure, ensuring everyone inside has the bandwidth they need, whether it’s fans, staff, vendor, or players. Boldyn does this sort of thing in 300 venues around the world now.

And Greenlight Networks is taking its FTTH network to another speed level. They have launched 8-Gig services across all their current markets, surpassing the 5-Gig option they had already been bringing to the table. Greenlight serves communities across upstate New York, with recent expansions in progress into the Hudson Valley.
