Some 800GE, two automotive manufacturing wins, and a significant security victory:

Windstream and Nokia have demonstrated 800GE over an 800Gbps wavelength. Spanning 1,386km on Windstream’s live network between Altanta and Miami, crossing 16 spans and 7 ROADM nodes. The connection was enabled via Nokia’s 7750 Service Rotuer and its 6th generation PSE-6 tedchnology and FP5 silicon. Windstream is looking to 800GE to meet future demand via high spectral efficiency and low power-per-bit.

Tata Communications picked up some global network business in the automotive manufacturing world this week. They will be connecting sites around the world for JLR, better known as Jaguar Land Rover. JLR is part of the broader Tata world, as it is owned by Tata Motors, and will leverage the network upgrade to enhance its production lines worldwide.

GTT announced a win in the same industry with Röchling Automotive, which will be shifting some 40 locations and 5,500 employees over from MPLS to a managed SD-WAN, doubling the available bandwidth and cutting incidents by 20%. Röchling will use the new network to hook up its production facilities, business locations, a private data center, and destinations in the cloud.

Lumen’s Black Lotus Labs says it has detected and taken down a malicious Chinese botnet. The so-called KV-botnet was used by ‘Chinese nation state cyber actors supporting Volt Typhoon operations’. Black Lotus Labs dropped malicious IP addresses, keeping compromised devices from communicating and disrupting the botnet’s data collection capabilities. Specifically the malware used compromised small office routers.
