EMEA Bytes: GBI, Voxility, GlobalNet, Avelacom

Three new PoPs and some latency optimization in Europe and the Middle East.

Gulf Bridge International has added a new PoP to its footprint in and around the Persian Gulf. They have expanded their reach into Equinix MC1 in Oman. From there GBI will offer L2 and L3 peering, MPLS routes, and connectiivty to both Asia and Europe. Oman’s position at the mouth of the Persian Gulf makes it a natural interconnection point to both the east and west.

Voxility has added some depth to its infrastructure in London with a new PoP. They have built out a node within AtlasEdge’s London City facility, which sits between the City of London and the Docklands and is about 5.5 miles away from the London City Airport. Voxility also has a presence at Telehouse Docklands and Digital Realty’s Memaco House.

GlobalNet continued its growth across Western Europe with a new PoP in Berlin. The new PoP is within Speedbone’s location at Alboinstr 36-42. Berlin will enable GlobalNet to better reach into central and eastern Europe, and I expect we will see additional expansion projects in 2024 that move into places like Poland and the Baltics.

Avelacom has further optimized its network footprint. The low latency specialist has cut out some 140km from its backhaul network in multiple markets in Europe. The result is latency improvements for financial traders connecting to major capital market destinations like Borsa Istanbul, Dubai Gold and Commodity Exchange (DGCX), Saudi Exchange/Tadawul, Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Thailand SET, Taipei Futures Exchange (TAIFEX), and Japan Exchange Group (JSE) and various exchanges in India.
