Two FTTH expansion projects and one new SMB customer win:

CityFibre has begun work on an upgrade of the last mile infrastructure of another UK town. Last week the company started up its work in Wath upon Dearne. a town of about 12K east of Manchester along the River Dearne. The project will cost some £31.2m on the project, which will bring gigabit speeds to homes and businesses in the community. Heneghan & Sons will help CityFibre with the rollout.

Great Plains Communications continues to find new fiber expansion opportunities out in its home turf of Nebraska. They are taking aim at 16 additional communities. In the Omaha metro area that includes a swath of the suburbs southwest of Omaha that includes Gretna, La Vista, Papillion, and Ralston. But there are also more rural destinations on the list, which is rounded out by Arnold, Bancroft, Crofton, Grant, Hayes Center, Hay Springs, Imperial, Wausa, Wisner, Wood Lake and Wynot. GPC has been putting significant resources to work in the last mile over the past few years.

Comcast Business has lined up an interesting small customer within the alternative healthcare world. They are providing both mobile and fiber connectivity to Limitless Chiropractic and Lifestyle Center out in Sumner WA. The additional bandwidth will go toward supporting the operational needs of Limitless’s office, from x-rays to background music. Sumner is about 10 miles southeast of Tacoma in Pierce County.
