Tuesday Bytes: Digital Realty, Sparkle, MetTel, Render

July 31st, 2023 by · Leave a Comment

Four interesting items from around the industry to keep up with as July comes to a close:

Digital Realty and TPG Real Estate have done a deal in northern Virginia. TPG Real Estate will be acquiring an 80% stake in a portfolio of facilities valued at $1.5B. The deal covers three hyperscale facilities making up 104MW or so of IT capacity, valuing them at at a 5.0T cap rate.  Digital Realty will no doubt find something to do with the $1.3B in proceeds.

Sparkle and the Genoa Data Internet eXchange are teaming up for an expansion in Genoa. Ge-DIX will establish a node of its distributed IXP platform in Spakrle’s Genoa Digital Hub in Lagaccio. Ge-DIX is operated by a consortium consisted of the City of Genoa, Liguria Digitale, BBBell, Fastweb, Retelit, Rocket Way, and TOP-IX.

Render Networks has a new customer for its operations software out in Utah. InfoWest, which operates fiber and wireless footprints in Utah and several surrounding states, and is looking to expand its fiber reach. By tapping Render’s technology they hope to accelerate that growth process.

MetTel has won a convert to its POTS transformation solution. Extra Space Storage, a REIT with more than 2,000 storage facilities across 41 states, is tapping MetTel to power its communications infrastructure. The upgrade will enable them to keep their existing equipment in place while beginning the migration to a more modern digital infrastructure.
