Ozark Buys Missouri Telecom’s SMB and Residential Biz

January 3rd, 2023 by · Leave a Comment

The new year kicked off with a bit of M&A out in Missouri. Ozark Fiber has announced the acquisition of the residential and SMB businesses of Missouri Telecom.

Missouri Telecom’s territory was the region in and around the town of Monett. Just two weeks ago they sold off their middle mile network assets to Bluebird Network. So today’s transaction can be seen in that light, a case of selling off the company in several pieces to maximize shareholder value.

Ozark has been building FTTx out in Monett since September, and intends to transition Missouri Telecom’s customers over to its infrastructure by Q2 2023. They appear to be a new player in the region, or at least are new to me.
