Monday Roundup Bytes: euNetworks, EXA, Extenet, Vantage, Ciena

From around the world this morning and late last week: a couple of interesting executive moves over in Europe, a rebranding, a new data center campus, and a network upgrade project.

euNetworks is moving to further flesh out its new leadership team. Following its promotion of Paula Cogan to CEO, the western European bandwidth infrastructure company has named Stephanie Lynch-Habib to take over as President. Lynch-Habib will have responsibility for all operating aspects of the business.

Meanwhile, EXA Infrastructure has also made an interesting executive appointment. They have named Ariadna Ilie to the role of VP Sales, Global Content and Hyperscalers. It’s a newly created role that will target the largest global content providers. Ilie most recently led the European backbone team at AWS.

And there was a bit of rebranding in the wireless infrastructure sector last week. ExteNet Systems has dropped the ‘Systems’ and the capital ‘N’, opting for the simpler name of Extenet. The simplification in branding is accompanied by a new logo, messaging, and website of course.

Vantage Data Centers has found some more opportunity over in South Africa. They are now building a second campus in Johannesburg. The JNB2 Isando campus will be in Ekurhuleni near the airport, about 17km from the JBN1 campus. The first 2-story building will feature 355,000 square feet and 20MW of power when operational in mid 2024.

Ciena picked up a bit of business down in South America. The Uruguayan provider Dedicado will be using Ciena’s optical gear on its terrestrial and subsea fiber network segments. The move enables 600G and 800G wavelengths and can deliver up to 25.2Tbps between Uruguay and Argentina.
