For the third year in a row, Comcast Business has announced significant investments in the DC metro fiber marketplace. The latest expansion project will put $3M to work across six Virginia markets, and not just within the immediate suburbs of DC itself.
In Comcast Business’ sights are Charlottesville in central Virginia, Chesterfield (near Richmond), Fredericksburg along I-95, and the DC suburbs of Reston, Sterling, and Woodbridge. The expansion will enable from 1Gbps up to 100Gbps connectivity for an additional several hundred businesses across the region.
The move comes on the heels of the completion of last year’s initiative, which put $28M to work to bring fiber near 7,000 businesses in VA, DC, MD, DE, and WV. That itself followed up on the earlier 2020 completion of a fiber build reaching some 2,800 businesses.
