Two bits of Icelandic-related data center consolidation, and two technology integrations:
A data center has changed hands over in Iceland. Borealis Data Center has announced the acquisition of Reykjavik DC. RDC operates a a facility which will span 7,000 square meters of space when full built out. That will complement’s Borealis’s two other locations in Blönduós and at Fitjar in Reykjanesbær in the northern part of the country. The French company Vauban Infrastructure Partner bought Borealis last year.
The cloud communications specialist Sinch has lined up a new partner. Zapier has integrated Sinch’s Conversation API into its automation platform. It’s an expansion of an existing relationship, enabling Zapier’s users to better manage a wide range of messaging channels.
Cataleya and Springboard are teaming up in a new partnership. The two will combine the former’s BSS platform capabilities with the latter’s switching technology into a single solution. Cataleya was spun out of Epsilon back in 2017, and specializes in IPX session border control technology that has been incorporated into Springboard’s platform.
And I missed this one from last week, but Volta Data Centers is now officially operating as part of Verne Global. The move follows closely on the purchase of Volta by the infrastructure D9, which also bought Verne Global a year ago. Volta operates a 91,000 square foot data center in central London, while Verne Global of course has a campus over in Iceland. If D9 is merging the two operationally, they probably have plans for further similar consolidation.
