Zayo Shifts Its Enterprise Approach

April 13th, 2022 by · Leave a Comment

Zayo has kicked off a new effort at the enterprise marketplace in advance of Channel Partners out in Las Vegas. They have launched ‘Zayo Enterprise Solutions’, which bundles the relevant products and resources in such a way as to better meet the needs of enterprises. It’s an area that Zayo has historically not had that much success with as compared to its wholesale business.

Bundled under the banner of Zayo Enterprise Solutions are the bandwidth itself, the Shielded Internet Access offering they launched last fall, their IP VPN solution, and a flexible delivery approach. But the products are table stakes, the real news is probably the local support they are assembling. Zayo has put together dedicated teams based in Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Seattle, and Toronto so far. More markets will follow, which is understandable given that California and the entire US eastern seaboard aren’t yet represented.  Also not yet mentioned but probably to be added to the picture is the SD WAN technology they acquired in the QOS Networks deal in January of this year.

The move is somewhat reminiscent of the prior era under founder Dan Caruso, when it seemed like Zayo would re-organize internally every year in order to get just the right approach. Is this effort of the Steve Smith era different? Zayo certainly has the assets necessary to find growth again in the enterprise space, and they are taking a more deliberate and decentralized approach to the enterprise space. Success, however, will be found in the details as always.
