Three infrastructure expansion items and one M&A to keep up with:
Arelion continued its North American network with a little more help from Cologix. They have deployed a new PoP at Cologix’s COL3 Scalelogix hyperscale edge facility in Columbus, OH. It’s their 8th PoP in 7 markets with Cologix, whose dual focus on colo and interconnection is a good fit for Arelion’s infrastructure needs.
Hyperoptic has unveiled plans to accelerate its FTTH rollout in the UK. The fiber ISP says it will be investing £200M this year to build out its footprint. They hope to pass 400K additional homes and businesses this year via 1500km of new fiber infrastructure as well as OpenReach’s Physical Infrastructure Access offering. The next phase of target markets include Fulham and Pimlico, Willesden Green, Holloway, Balham, and Clapham.
Aryaka has expanded its infrastructure with a new European point of presence. The new PoP is in Paris will enable the independent SD-WAN and SASE provider to better serve its European customers which were looking for better proximity to data centers. The company also has several new channel partners ramping up in the region.
Digital 9 Infrastructure has struck again with a new purchase. D9 announced this week the acquisition of GADataHoldings Limited, which we know better as Volta Data Centres. Volta operates a 91,000 square foot, 6MW facility in central London near Farringdon Station. In the past year, D9 has acquired Aqua Comms, Verne Global, a data center from Stellium, and most recently Host Ireland.
