Several new technology deployments and collaborations plus one interesting inorganic investment:

Windstream Wholesale is expanding its fiber footprint to a new endpoint. They will be connecting their Intelligent Converged Optical Network to the AUBix LLC data center, which sits adjacent to Auburn University in Alabama. AUBix LLC has 40,000 square feet of space at 1571 W. Samford Ave, which Windstream will connect over to 55 Marietta in Atlanta. The expansion should be online by the end of this month.

LightRiver Technologies has lined up a new technology partner. Smartoptics says that its open line systems portfolio is now supported by LightRiver’s netFLEX domain orchestration and control solutions. Both companies will sell the combined solution, expanding on an existing collaborative relationship.

Dobson Fiber has a new strategic financial financial partner out in Oklahoma. iCON Infrastructure will be supporting the company’s $700M fiber deployment plans across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. The Dobson Family will retain significant ownership in the company, which operates 4900+ route miles of regional fiber network.

NorthC is turning to green hydrogen in the Netherlands. The regional data center operator is installing hydrogen fuel cells for its emergency power needs at its facility in Groningen. The deployment replaces the more common diesel generators, and NorthC says the move will mean the production of 78,000kg less carbon dioxide. They will also look at the possibility of doing the same at the company’s other facilities.

And Ciena has picked up a regional deal down in Florida. Summit Broadband has deployed the company’s Adaptive IP technology to upgrade and expand its footprint across central, west, and southwest Florida. More specifically, Summit is leveraging Ciena’s 6500 ROADM with 400GbE wavelengths as well as supporting software and technology to optimize its operations.
