Three vendor deployments and a partnership spread across four continents worth catching up on at midweek:

Infinera has won a bit of subsea business for its ICE6 technology. The PEACE cable and PCCW Global announced yesterday that Infinera's gear will be deployed on the Mediterranean segment of the Pakistan & East Africa Connecting Europe cable system. The solution will enable 25Tbps per fiber pair, leveraging 7nm ASIC technology and second-generation Nyquist subcarriers. The PEACE cable system is expected to be completed later this year.

Colt is teaming up with NorthC to increase its depth in the Netherlands. The two have interconnected their infrastructure, combining Colt's SDN-based IQ Network capabilities with NorthC's colocation across 10 data centers around the NEtherlands. Colt's footprint reaches 29K on-net buildings and 900+ data centers on three continents, while in total NorthC's data centers span some 60,000 square meters powered by 44MW.

Ciena is supporting some new network infrastructure between Mexico and the US. The Mexican provider Marcatel is leveraging Ciena's coherent optical technology and supporting services to power a link between Queretaro and McAllen, Texas. The link will support 600Gbps DCI services with reach of more than 1000km.

And Juniper has teamed up with NEC to empower the fixed wireless provider Herotel down in South Africa. The two have enabled the deployment of the country's first commercial network to deploy segment routing. The upgrade will support Herotel's rapid growth, consolidating 19 separate networks onto a single architecture. Herotel hopes to bring 60K new customers online over the next six months and is building out fiber to 16 towns with a further 18 in the Western Cape district on the roadmap.
