A series of partnerships and technology deployments from Europe and the US to catch up on from this week:
Virgin Media Business has launched a high capacity metro ring in Dublin, Ireland with the help of Infinera. They have deployed Infinera’s XTM series gear on the company’s Virgin Infinity Ring. The upgrade offers 10G and 100G protected services to and between data centers in the Dublin metro area via a disaggregated, pay-as-you-grow architecture.
Interxion and Telxius are teaming up for direct interconnection of the Dunante subsea cable at Interxion Paris. Dunante connects Virginia Beach with the coast of France, and Telxius has now extended its own piece of that cable on to the Paris colocation campus, which Interxion is currently engaged in expanding.
Orange Business Services has picked up a contract with GÉANT, becoming a preferred partner for the Open Clouds for Research Environments project. The OCRE project aims to increase cloud adoption across 8,000 institutions around the continent, a market that Orange Business will offer its public cloud platform.
And CloudFlare has won some business out at the edge. EdgeConneX has deployed the Cloudflare Network Interconnect solution across 16 of its data centers, with another three planned for 2021. Combined with CloudFlare’s Magic Transit solution, the arrangement allows EdgeConnex to deliver DDoS protection and traffic acceleration from the enabled data centers.
