Tuesday Bytes: ExteNet, neutrality.one, Padtec, Equinix

Here’s a set of quick takes from around the industry and the world worth catching up on:

ExteNet and Evoque are teaming up. The connectivity provider and the data center operator announced an alliance yesterday under which ExteNet will integrate its services into Evoque’s infrastructure in 14 US data centers. The expansion by ExteNet into those facilities is expected to be complete by the end of January. Dallas-based Evoque operates 31 data centers worldwide, a footprint that derives largely from the AT&T data centers purchased by Brookfield a couple years ago.

The cloud networking provider neutrality.one has won a convert in Asia. Taeknizon has selected the company’s SD-WAN services to connect its cloud services. Taeknizon is based in Singapore and serves customers from southeast Asia through India over to the Middle East. neutrality.one is an Irish-backed startup that started making waves this past summer, hiring former Epsilon CEO Jerzy Szlosarek to lead its efforts.

Padtec has sold some gear down in Brazil. Ava Telecom is deploying the company’s optical gear to connect cities in the interior of São Paulo, which is a Brazilian state as well as the city we are all familiar with by now that is its capital. Ava Telecom is deploying 100Gbps and 200Gbps wavelengths on 600km of fiber connecting Campinas and Ourinhos offering a total of 1.2Tbps.

And Equinix is investing a pile of resources into Finland. The global data center operator plans to put €32M to work in Helsinki, expanding both its HE5 and HE7 IBX facilities. The company’s Finnish footprint serves Equinix as a connectivity hub between Europe, the Baltics, and Russia, and also potentially stands to gain relevance with the completion of the Arctic Connect Cable project. The expansion will add another 800 cabinets to Equinix’s portfolio.
