Two regional submarine cables and a couple of upgrade projects in both Europe and Asia:
HGC has completed a network interconnection project with TKO Express over in Hong Kong. TKO Express is a submarine cable just 3.5km long across Tathong Channel that connects Chai Wan on Hong Kong Island and Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate over in the 'New Territories' on the mainland to the east. The new route cuts 9km off of the previous pathway, supporting latency of as low as 20ms.
Tampnet has had a big year in terms of traffic growth. the company reported yesterday a jump in data traffic in and out of Norway of more than 90%. They have been targeting tailor made routes and upgrading technology, especially on routes over to the UK. The company is also opening a new connection in two weeks connecting Egersund, Norway and Aberdeen, Scotland.
SSE Enterprise Telecoms is further upgrading its UK-wide network with some help from Infinera. They have deployed Infinera's XTM series as part of the second phase of the expansion, facilitating additional 5G rollouts in support of IoT and other next generation opportunities. When complete, SSE's network will extend over 30,000km nationwide.
Colt has upgraded its SD-WAN offerings with SD WAN 2.0. Enhancements include a WAN optimization suite, advanced firewall technology, better network insights, andn an optional self-install CPE capability. Colt was an early mover in SD-WAN and managed services, and earlier this year also added a Multi-Cloud offering, VoIP optimization and support for IPv6. These new enhancements are available as of yesterday.
