Monday Bytes: DataBank, Colo Atl, EdgeConneX, Southern Telecom

Four items from late last week that are worth noting as we kick off the new week:

DataBank has added some DRaaS to its data protection diet. The new capability is a turn-key service based on technology from both Zerto and Veeam. Enterprises can use the service to recover workloads, applications, and systems in the event of natural and man-made disasters. DataBank offers replication options to 19 data centers across 9 key markets.

Colo Atl has a new regional customer down in Atlanta. West Carolina Tel is leveraging the company’s 55 Marietta facility for colo and interconnection. WCTEL’s footprint spans much of western South Carolina where they offer up to 1Gbps symmetric to homes and businesses.  Such regional service providers are Colo Atl’s bread and butter.

EdgeConneX has a new partner in the effort to hook enterprises up to the cloud out on the edge. They are working with Lume, bringing the company’s Cloud Anywhere service to their data center footprint. EdgeConneX has been paying plenty of attention to interconnection partners to make space and power at the edge easier to consume.

And Southern Telecom has added some muscle to its management team.  The company has brought in Steve Laufersweiler as its newest Carrier Account Executive, moving over from Ascent.   Southern Telecom is a division of Southern Co, and has been busy quietly building out more fiber in the southeast leveraging the energy utility rights-of-way it has access to across the region.
