Zayo To Blaze New Trail Through the Rockies

August 7th, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Zayo has begun construction on a new, unique intercity fiber route. The path will stretch from Zayo’s home turf in the Denver metro area, up into and through the Rockies, and over to Salt Lake City.

The current Zayo route goes north up to Wyoming and then west to Utah, but this new route will take a more direct approach as it leaves Denver. It will stick to Interstate 70 through the Colorado Rockies, and only later head north to the Great Salt Lake via US 191 and US 6.

Construction of the new route began in Q2, and completion is anticipated in 2021. It will add some 500 route miles to Zayo’s footprint and connect two substantial metro footprints, Zayo has 1,600 route miles in the Denver metro area, and 1,200 route miles in Salt Lake City.

Zayo has other longhaul projects at various stages of construction between Reno and Portland, Las Vegas and Phoenix, Dallas and Atlanta, and Chicago and Ashburn.
