Some interconnection, upgrade, and expansion news worth checking out:
CenturyLink’s Vyvx has become the latest connectivity provider to offer direct connectivity to Amazon AWS. Given the rise of OTT and cloud-based data processing, Vyvx needs to be able to deliver broadcast feeds to destinations in the cloud in addition to the venue-studio connections it has traditionally focused on.
GTT has put some resources to work in central and eastern Europe. The global network operator has invested in an upgrade of the optical gear on its fiber network from Germany through Austria, Hungary, and Bulgaria to Turkey. The move adds diversity while doubling the capacity available to them. GTT’s physical presence in the region comes, of course, from the recent purchase and ongoing integration of Interoute.
Flexential has polished off its expansion out in Portland Oregon. The company’s $32M expansion adds 115,000 square feet of space to the company’s facility at 5737 NE Huffman Street, bringing the total up to 240,000 square feet. The facility also becomes the landing station for the new Hawaiki cable system and boasts low latency connectivity to New Cross Pacific as well.
Digital Realty Trust has added a new cloud access destination on its exchange. They are now providing direct, private access to Salesforce as a Salesforce Express Connect partner. The interconnections are now available in 15 of the country’s markets in the US and Europe. Salesforce has been quickly joining the ranks of must-have-direct-links-to clouds for the major colo and network providers.
