GTT Buys Accelerated

March 12th, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

Apparently the Interoute deal didn’t quite satisfy GTT’s M&A appetite for the quarter.  This morning they announced another acquisition, this time up in Canada.  GTT has announced the purchase of Accelerated Communications.

Accelerated offers managed network services, VoIP, and colo across the Canadian marketplace.  The company operates two data centers in Toronto, one within the iconic 151 Front Street West carrier hotel and a recently opened location at 35 John Street a few blocks away.  Their network reaches out to all of the country’s major provinces, offering data services to enterprises of all sizes.

While it’s certainly on a smaller scale than Interoute last month or Hibernia last year, the assets do seem quite complementary to GTT’s existing business.  The deal offers the company better Canadian penetration when it comes to assets, manpower, and enterprise customers.  The integration won’t intersect much with that of Interoute given the lack over overlap.

The deal is already done, and the financial details will be supplied during GTT’s first quarter call in a month or two.
