Wednesday Bytes: Infomart, Orange, Cloudsmartz, Colt

Here’s a quick look at some news from around the industry:

Infomart Data Centers is looking to bring in more clouds and content to its facilities. The national data center provider has launched RackReady Wholesale, which brings toll-free cross connects in the building’s MMR and therefore makes it easier for cloud and content providers to lease wholesale racks without making the financial commitment they might otherwise have to make. The new service is initially available at the company’s Dallas hub, but will be expanded to other locations as well.

Orange Business has a new customer for its Maritime Connect solution. Topaz Energy and Marine will be integrating its facilities and ships via Orange’s integrated communications platform. They’ll be starting out with 39 vessels, and then rolling it out to the company’s full 110-ship fleet by the end of next year.

Last week CloudSmartz was selected by Laser Light Communications in a 5 year arrangement. CloudSmartz will help with Laser Light’s SDN capabilities. Laser Light plans to build a hybrid satellite/optical network that will deliver Optical Satellite as a Service, or OSaaS via 8-12 satellites in medium earth orbit.

And a familiar face has an expanded role over at Colt. Rajiv Datta has been named chief operating officer, moving up from his previous position as CTO. Colt is at an interesting point in its development, in that I’m not quite sure which way they will jump.
