As this wet August (here at least) drags on, here’s a quick roundup of some more news bytes from this week:
Windstream Wholesale picked up a convert for its SD-WAN services. BCN Telecom has agreed to add the division’s SD-WAN solution to its own national product suite, becoming Windstream Wholesale’s first reseller partner to do so. I am curious to see what the channel will be able to do with SD-WAN.
Connected2Fiber picked up another customer this week. Bluebird Network has implemented the company’s SaaS offerings for managing and distributing its on-net infrastructure information. Bluebird operates a network of 6,000+ route miles of regional network primarily in Missouri and Illinois. This comes closely on the heels of the company’s agreement with INDATEL, and it’s no coincidence since Bluebird is an INDATEL member.
Cologix has shifted around its management team a bit. The company’s CFO Brian Cox has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer. Meanwhile, Stephen Tucker has been brought in to take over the Chief Financial Officer role. Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners recently bought a majority stake in the company, committing some $500M to future expansion projects. I expect we’ll hear more about what they plan to do with those resources before long.
Atlanta’s Colo Atl is going to be getting even more connected. Southern Telecom has announced an agreement with Colo Atl to increase its fiber network building access, running cable to the data center and interconnection provider’s Meet-Me-Area via diverse risers. Southern Telecom operates 1,400 dark fiber route miles in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
