Telia Carrier has been working on its network infrastructure in western Europe. This morning the international arm of Telia took the wraps off of several new options for connectivity in and out of Zurich, Switzerland.
They now have a new high capacity fiber route between Zurich and Strasbourg as well as additional metro fiber and a new PoP in Zurich itself. The company’s path between Zurich and Frankfurt is now shorter, offering lower latency both into Zurich itself and down to Milan and Marseilles as well. In the past, Telia’s path to Zurich started in Munich.
Telia Carrier has been steadily adding muscle to its global IP backbone and its supporting infrastructure in both Europe and the USA. The process has been largely organic though, eschewing M&A so far on both continents despite all the consolidation.
