Zayo Expands Data Center Footprint in LA

April 14th, 2017 by · Leave a Comment

With an ‘major webscale’ anchor customer in tow, Zayo has announced the expansion of its data center presence in Los Angeles.  They will be adding another data center there, bringing their California total up to five.

The new data center will be within One Wilshire at 624 S Grand Ave, which is of course one of the west coast’s most connected buildings.  The expansion will add 24,215 total square feet and 2MW of power to the company’s portfolio.  Zayo also operates facilities not far away in the city of Irvine.

Zayo’s fiber network in California got an injection of new infrastructure when the Electric Lightwave deal closed.  ELI had itself acquired a subsea route along the California coast that added some unique diversity to their LA connectivity.

As for that ‘major webscale’ anchor customer.  It could be any one of a variety of big content companies of course, but by now it’s an open secret that for zColo such new anchor customers are rather frequently Google.
