Here’s a set of quick-takes on some news from around the sector and the world lately:
DE-CIX offered up an update on its growth worldwide yesterday. In Frankfurt they’ve seen a 50% growth in 100GigE ports and now have a connected customer capacity of 22Tbps. Across their various exchanges worldwide, that number is now 25Tbps. Their most recent expansion has been for their Istanbul exchange, which has brought the TurkNet data center online.
Equinix has a new cloud services option available on its Cloud Exchange. The data center operator is now providing direct, private connectivity to the Salesforce platform, which includes a range of CRM cloud applications. Of course, they also put out their Q4 earnings yesterday, posting revenues of $942.6M, funds from operations of $4.08 per share, and earnings per share of $0.86.
And Interoute has been busy upgrading its UK network footprint. They have deployed Coriant’s 7090 Packet Transport Platform and associated software, upgrading their Ethernet service delivery and simplify provisioning across a range of TDM and packet-based technologies. Much of Interoute’s UK footprint came from the acquisitions of Vtesse in 2014 and Easynet in 2015.
