As we ease into Christmas at the end of this week, here's some quick catchup on some other news that's worth a look:
There was a bit more M&A in the VoIP and UC world this week, just making it in before Christmas. ShoreTel is acquiring Corvisa from Novation Companies for $8.5M in cash. Corvisa operates out of data centers in the UK and the Netherlands. The deal will bring Corvisa's APIs, SDKs, SIP turnking, contact center, and 95 employees under ShoreTel's roof. The deal follows ShoreTel's November purchase of M5 down under.
Zayo had some key additional cloud connectivity to announce yesterday. They are now providing dedicated connectivity to Microsoft's Office 365 through Azure ExpressRoute. Specifically, they are offering flat rate metro/intercity pricing at ExpressRoute on-ram locations in five US markets plus London.
And over in Europe, Colt is bringing in a familiar face to take over the Chief Technology Officer. Rajiv Datta, the former COO and CTO of AboveNet, will be joining the company with the New Year. He will be joining new CEO Carl Grivner to help rejuvenate the pan-European operator. Fidelity took the company private earlier this year, and in 2016 we will get to see what they have in mind.
