SIPARTECH Passes 550 On-net In Paris

June 26th, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

I am still striving to gain more detailed knowledge of the European fiber market, and it’s always interesting to run across another substantial builder and operator of dark fiber that is entirely new to me.  This week France’s SIPARTECH announced the completion of several milestones for their Paris metro area dark fiber network.

eta_sipartech_gSIPARTECH says that during the first quarter of 2014 its route miles passed the 1,000km, a network which already hooks up 550 connected buildings.  Their goal is 2,000 connected buildings by the end of 2016, which would imply a very rapid expansion for a single, albeit large market.

If European fiber M&A ever picks up steam the way it did in the US a few years back, assets like this could be on the front line.  At least, they could if they want to be.  Some Paris metro fiber is already changing hands this year, with Zayo in the process of buying Neo Telecoms.
