AMS-IX Takes On the Big Apple, Aims At Chicago, Silicon Valley

Another European-style interconnection exchange has launched in the USA.  Amsterdam’s AMS-IX announced this morning that it is now accepting orders for its new AMS-IX New York exchange, which is one of several Open-IX initiatives taking the peering and interconnection market by storm.

They have reached agreements with four carrier hotel operators in the metro area to kick off the distributed infrastructure. The initial deployment will be at Digital Realty’s facility at 111 8th and DuPont Fabros location at 101Possumtown Road in Piscataway. The other two selected locations are Sabey’s Intergate.Manhattan at 375 Pearl and the new 325 Hudson facility.

Meanwhile, AMS-IX is planning to do the same thing out in both Chicago and Silicon Valley.  No doubt we will see some of those same REITs show up again when those launch.
