A data center REIT’s work is never done, there’s always more square footage to be developed. Digital Realty Trust (NYSE:DLR, news, filings) made another such move this morning over in the Netherlands in the suburbs of Amsterdam. They’ve acquired a site in Haarlemmermeer (and no, my ‘a’, ‘e’, and ‘m’ keys aren’t sticking) on which they plan to build an 11.5MW facility.
They’ve bought 5.37 acres at De President in the town of Hoofddorp, on which they will put a 15,900 square meter (171,000 square feet) facility. There will be 6 data halls built off of Digital Realty’s POD 3.0 architecture, each supporting 1.92MW of IT load. Construction will begin in Q4 of this year, with the first two halls delivered in mid 2014.
