BTI Wins Backhaul Deal in Malaysia

June 20th, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

BTI Systems won an interesting deal in Southeast Asia yesterday. Fiberail is deploying their converged packet-optical and Carrier Ethernet gear to extend their delivery of mobile backhaul and Carrier Ethernet across the Southeast Asian nation.  They’ll be selling the capacity to telecommunications carriers, and especially to 3G and 4G mobile operators as the country continues to build out its infrastructure.

I’ve been looking for more information on fiber in the APAC region for my maps collections for years and hadn’t run into Fiberail.  They run 5000km of fiber along the rail network (hence the name Fiberail) on Malaysia’s mainland section, hitting nearly all the major metro areas and connecting to Thailand and Singapore.  I have added them to my APAC maps page.
