One bit of M&A news, one edge data center deal, some campus networking, and a little FTTx:

Pilot Fiber has completed its deal for the enterprise fiber business of Extenet. The deal, which was announced 6 months ago, combines Pilot’s extensive Manhattan-based footprint with Extenet’s reach across the Hudson into New Jersey. The deal gives Pilot direct fiber access to more than 20 key data centers as well as 200 additional customers across multiple verticals. The combined networks now have 300+ miles of fiber reaching 3,700+ businesses in 1,000+ buildings.

Boldyn Networks will be helping Río Hondo College with its IT infrastructure. Boldyn will assit in assessing, supporting, and optimizing the South Texas institution’s application environment as it strengthen’s its ERP support capabilities. It is a process that many educational institutions are undergoing, and Boldyn’s specialization in campus networks and in managed technology services generally makes them a good fit for such work.

Following its recent spinoff of the railroad business, Duos Technologies has picked up a significant edge data center deal. Axe Compute has signed on for a 5-year, 55MW AI facility capacity deal. It covers multiple US data center sites and is valued at $500M over the full term. The project should be coming online in late 2026 and into early 2027. Axe Compute may also become a minority investor in special-purpose entities associated with the projects, though details have not yet been worked out.

And Vero Fiber has completed its fiber buildout in Crane, Texas. The project connects some 1,800 homes and businesses with last mile fiber across the city, which sits about a half hour’s drive south of Odessa in rural west Texas. Customers referenced specifically in the announcement include Four Pillars Hospice and Nichols Funeral Home. That gives Vero fiber networks in 13 Texas communities as the company continues to expand its footprint.
