Four bits of colo, cloud, and AI news to catch up with:
Vantage Data Centers has announced another major expansion in Virginia, moving into Stafford County. They will be putting some $2B into Fredericksburg to develop a 192MW campus. It will be their fourth campus in the state, giving them a total capacity of 782MW. VA4 will house three data centers totalling 929,000 square feet of space on 82 acres.
Equinix says it will be building a third facility in Nigeria. LG3 will be located in the capital city of Lagos and will cost some $22M. That’s just a piece of a broader plan to invest $100M on the continent. Equinix will incorporate its Equinix Fabric into the Lagos metro area, enabling smooth interconnection with its global infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Rack Centre has a new tenant at its facility in Lagos, Nigeria. EdgeNext has launched both CDN and cloud hosting services, targeting the country’s population of over 200M. Rack Centre operates 6 data halls and some 7,200 square meters of space backed by 13.5MW of IT power.
And CoreWeave has tapped VAST Data to help deliver their AI Cloud. In a $1.17B partnership deal, they will integrate the VAST AI OS as their primary data foundation. Coreweave has been busy lining up data center infrastructure in a couple dozen locations across the US and Europe.
