Time to catch up on some interesting network and vendor news from around the world:
Zayo Europe is investing in a significant expansion of its metro depth in Germany. They are leveraging Ciena’s RLS and WL6e technology to deploy 3,000km of nework across 8 metro areas across the country, including Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, and Berlin. The upgrades enable Zayo to offer 400G wavelengths with a path to 800G and 1.6T in the future.
Meanwhile, GNM has upgraded its optical backbone between Sweden and the Balkans. They have deployed a new dual-path DWDM route between Bratislava and Sofia, with one passing through Serbia and the other via Romania. They have also upgraded hardware in the Swedish market of Kista to enable more bandwidth at less power.
Ciena’s gear is also getting a workout in the Research & Education space in southeast Asia. SingAREN is leveraging their 6500 optical solution and WaveLogic technology to power its backbone with the help o Terrabit Networks. The enhancements will help SingAREN meet demand from AI-related research as well as more traditional data-intensive research projects such as cancer research.
MetTel and Check Point have partnered on a new security capability. The two have unveiled a mobile threat defense solution for the enterprise space. Built on Chekc Point Harmony Mobile, the solution aims to deliver end-to-end protection across all mobile attack vectors.
And GTT has expanded its partnership with Palo Alto Networks. The two have teamed up to add Palo Alto’s Prisma SASE to GTT’s Secure Connect portfolio. GTT is looking to meet the needs of large, distributed enterprises in healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and other verticals.
