Int’l Bytes: Prime, BDx, Liquid, Nokia, Web Werks, Iron Mountain

Four very interesting projects on three continent to keep up with, 3 data centers and one terrestrial backbone:

Prime Data Centers is moving into Denmark. They have unveiled plans for a 124MW carbon-neutral data center campus at Energivej in Saeby, which lies in the northeastern part of the country. It will be Prime’s first foray into Europe, and comes with a district-heating partnership with Saeby Varmeverk under which waste heat will be re-used. At full buildout the plans call for three hyperscale facilities.

BDx will be building out some new space in Hong Kong. Today they announced plans for a 16MW data center in the city’s Kwai Chung district. HKG8 is expected to be operational by the end of the year, and will be the company’s fourth facility in Hong Kong.

Over in Africa, Liquid Intelligent Technologies has tapped Nokia for a terrestrial network expansion. Nokia is helping Liquid build fiber connecting landing stations in Kenya, South Africa, and the DRC. To do that it will traverse parts of Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, putting bandwidth of some 12Tbps in place as initially designed. The buildout will see 145 nodes of Nokia’s 1830 PSS deployed.

Web Werks and Iron Mountain have officially opened their first greenfield data center in Mumbai. MUM-2 sits on the 120,000-square-foot campus adjacent to the Web Werks Mumbai-1 facility in Navi Mumbai. Web Werks and Iron Mountain formed the joint venture two years ago, and they also have projects finishing up in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
