DoD Hands Qwest $100M Contract

Just as the company is about to complete its merger with CenturyLink (NYSE:CTL, news, filings), q picked up a big win in the government sector.  DISA/DITCO, which handles this sort of thing for the Department of Defense, has awarded the company a contract that could be worth in excess of $100M for IP services.  Under the deal, Qwest’s Governemt Services group will be the sole provider for the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and other agencies. 

The press release states that Qwest will provide the IP services to DISA as it migrates to Networx, which confuses me as to whether this is covered under Networx directly or not.  I suppose it doesn’t matter, a contract is a contract, and this is a pretty nice one.  Qwest hasn’t been that vocal on the IP front of late, but they’re always out there.

I’ll bet CenturyLink is happy to be about to inherit the $100M contract.  That deal’s close should be imminent, I’d think.
