Two from overseas, and two of regional interest from the southern US:
The Japan-Guam-Australia subsea cable system is getting a 400Gbps upgrade. Lightstorm has tapped Ciena’s WaveLogic coherent optical technology to boost the system’s capacity. The upgrade will enable the scaling of capacity in response to demand between Tokyo and Sydney, with a leading global cloud platform already taking advantage.
RETN has launched a new point of presence in the British Isles. They have gone live in the Lunar 1 data center of Lunar Digital. That’s in Manchester, which is perhaps the UK’s second largest digital hub, behind London of course. RETN has been steadily adding depth to its European reach over the last several years.
On the regional front, TruVista Fiber has been busy with the Carolina Cup horse racing event in South Carolina. They will be connecting fans at the Springdale Race Course for next week’s festivities for the fourth year in a row. The event will draw 30,000 fans to the city of Camden and will culminate in a steeplechase.
And last week Duos Technologies will be deploying a second edge data center in the city of Amarillo up in the Texas panhandle. From land adjacent to the region’s colocation hub they will offer carrier-neutral SOC 2-complient services to both the public sector and enterprises. Duos Edge AI now has installations live in Lubbock, Waco, Victoria, Abilene, and Corpus Christi as well. The new Amarillo EDC will be operational in a few months.
